Summer Concerts in the Park

Three nights. Three parks. Zero cover charge. Bring a blanket, bring the kids, bring the dog if they're chill about tubas.

July 2 — Crown Park — 5:30 pm

We open the series with the Cowlitz Tribe Dancers, followed by Quinton Parker and Friends playing Americana — heartfelt, a little dusty, and not afraid of a good story song.

July 16 — Dorothy Fox Park — 6–8 pm

River City Riot brings New Orleans-style brass band energy — funk, soul, second line, the kind of horn section that makes it impossible to stand still. Learn more about River City Riot → https://rivercityriot.com/

July 23 — Fallen Leaf Lake Park — 6–8 pm

We close the series with Emma Hill, whose folk-rooted Americana songwriting has a way of sneaking up on you. Learn more about Emma Hill → http://www.emmahillmusic.com/

All concerts are free and open to the public. Seating is bring-your-own — lawn chairs and blankets welcome. Food vendors will be on site at each show, so come hungry and leave the dinner dishes for another night.

River City Riot is a Portland-based brass band bringing the sound of New Orleans straight to the park. Expect funk, soul, jazz, blues, and a little rock and roll, all wrapped up in the high-energy, second-line style the city is known for. This is a band built for moving — horns blaring, rhythm section driving, and a crowd that won't be able to stay seated for long. If you've ever wanted a taste of a Mardi Gras parade without leaving town, this is your night.

Emma Hill has been writing and performing original music since 2007, growing from her roots in the small Alaskan village of Sleetmute into an artist with national and international touring credits. Her current project, Park Songs, grew out of an eight-month, 30,000-mile trip around the country visiting national parks — a fitting inspiration for an artist who counts nature among her biggest creative influences. Expect an evening of folk and Americana songwriting from someone who's spent the better part of two decades honing her craft on stages across the country.
